Retreats in Southwest France
Our retreats offer a rare opportunity to step away from the usual pace of daily life and study with us in person in Southwest France. They bring together Taoist philosophy, Internal Alchemy, health practices and Chinese martial arts in a setting where theory, personal instruction and physical practice can naturally support one another.
Each retreat has a clearly defined subject and is taught directly by Prof. Dr. Dan K.J. Vercammen and Angela J.H. Verkade. The program may include textual study, historical and philosophical background, Yuanqigong, Daoyin, meditation or Chinese internal martial arts, depending on the chosen theme.
We deliberately keep these retreats small, with a maximum of eight participants. This allows enough space for personal observation, correction and questions, while still creating the shared atmosphere of studying and practising together.
Retreats are offered in Southwest France from April to mid-June and from mid-September through October, for a maximum of five days. They cannot be arranged outside these periods. Scheduled retreats have fixed subjects, although the interests shared with us through the form below also help us shape future programs.
The form allows you to express your interest and tell us a little about your background, previous experience and what you would like to study. Completing it is not a booking and does not guarantee a place. Once the details of a retreat have been confirmed, we will contact those whose interests and experience appear to match the program.
You do not need to be an Academy student to attend a public retreat. What matters most is a sincere interest in the subject and a willingness to participate fully in both the theoretical and practical parts of the program.
